A Distributed Mixed-Integer Framework to Stochastic Optimal Microgrid Control

This article deals with distributed control of microgrids composed storages, generators, renewable energy sources, and critical controllable loads. We consider a stochastic formulation the optimal problem associated microgrid that appropriately takes into account unpredictable nature power generated by renewables. The resulting is mixed-integer linear program NP-hard nonconvex. Moreover, peculiarity considered framework no central unit can be used to perform optimization, but rather units must cooperate each other means neighboring communication. To solve problem, we resort methodology based on primal decomposition approach. algorithm able compute high-quality feasible solutions two-stage optimization for which also provide theoretical upper bound constraint violation. Finally, Monte Carlo numerical computation scenario large number devices shows efficacy proposed experiments are performed realistic scenarios obtained from Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) trained an open-source historical dataset EU.
